Everything you might want to know about working with Erin Miller-Brennan, LPCC, CMHC, at Golden Thread Therapy: who it's for, how sessions work, cost, and what to expect.
Still have a question?
Bring it to your free 15-minute consultation. There's no such thing as a silly question.
Book a free consultationWho does Golden Thread Therapy work with?
Golden Thread Therapy offers individual therapy for adults (18+) located in Utah and California. Erin specializes in life transitions, relationship patterns, assertive communication, boundaries, and people-pleasing, and also works with anxiety, low mood, grief, and past trauma as they come up.
How do I get started?
Request a free 15-minute consultation through the Get Started page, or call (415) 758-0606. If you already know you'd like to book, you can schedule directly through Alma or Grow Therapy.
What happens during the free consultation?
It's a short phone or video call. You'll share a little about what's bringing you to therapy, ask any questions, and together you'll decide whether working together is a good fit. If it isn't, Erin will help point you toward someone who is.
Do you offer in-person sessions?
No. All sessions are held online by secure video. You need to be physically located in Utah or California at the time of each session.
How long are sessions, and how often do we meet?
Sessions are 45 to 50 minutes. Most clients start weekly or every other week, then adjust to every three or four weeks as things improve.
What platform do you use for video sessions?
Sessions take place on secure, HIPAA-compliant video platforms. You'll receive a link before each appointment, and all you need is a private space and a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera.
What types of therapy do you use?
Erin's approach is integrative, combining psychodynamic therapy, DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy), and EMDR, along with CBT, mindfulness, and art-based techniques when they fit. Erin is board-certified in DBT and trained in art psychotherapy.
Do you see couples, families, children, or teens?
No. Golden Thread Therapy focuses on individual therapy for adults. You can still do meaningful relationship work on your own, and Erin is happy to help you find a referral for couples, family, or child therapy.
Can I work on my relationship if my partner won't come to therapy?
Yes. Individual therapy can help you understand your part in recurring conflict, communicate more assertively, and respond differently. When one person changes their patterns, the relationship usually shifts too.
How much does a session cost?
Self-pay sessions are $165, with payment due at the end of each session. The 15-minute consultation is free. Insurance costs depend on your plan.
Do you take insurance?
Yes. Through Alma, Erin is in network with Cigna, Aetna, and Optum. You can also check coverage through her Grow Therapy profile.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed sessions are charged the full session fee.
Are there additional fees for letters or care coordination?
Yes. Letters, documentation, and consultation with your care team outside of session time are billable. Ask about specific fees if you need these services.
What should I do if I'm in crisis?
Golden Thread Therapy is not an emergency service. If you're in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline), text HOME to 741741, or dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
You don't have to have it all figured out to begin.
A free 15-minute call is a low-pressure way to see if we're a good fit. Tell me a little about what's going on, ask anything you'd like, and leave with a clear next step either way.
